FAQ & Troubleshooting
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Is Modly completely free?
Yes. Modly is 100% free and open source (MIT). No credits, no subscriptions, no hidden costs — unlimited generations, forever.
Does Modly work offline?
Yes. Once an extension and its weights are downloaded, generation runs fully offline on your GPU.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Nothing ever leaves your machine — unlike cloud services, your photos never touch a server.
What GPU does Modly require?
An NVIDIA GPU. VRAM needs depend on the model — quantized GGUF variants run on more modest hardware.
Can I use Modly for 3D printing?
Yes. Export as STL and load it straight into your slicer (Cura, PrusaSlicer…).
What file formats can I export?
GLB (recommended), OBJ, STL and PLY — compatible with any 3D tool or engine.
A generation fails or runs out of memory
Try a smaller or quantized (GGUF) variant, close other GPU-heavy apps, and check the extension's README for VRAM requirements.
How is Modly different from cloud services?
Cloud tools charge credits and upload your images. Modly is free, private, and runs entirely on your own hardware.
